The INTE-TRANSIT: “Integrated and Interoperable Maritime Transit Management System” MED project has achieved major accomplishments towards the goal of enabling multimodality and intermodality in large logistics hubs as are the MED port terminals.

INTE-TRANSIT is co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund under the MED Programme and aims to support the more efficient and optimized logistics organisation of MED ports and logistics areas through the use of modern ICT technologies and to establish a framework for cooperation between stakeholders in the Mediterranean countries for the exchange of best practices, cooperation and personnel training.

INTE-TRANSIT 2nd International Conference

“Multimodality and intermodality as drivers of change for ports and logistics”,

During this unique event and showcase, you will be able to network with experts and discover the latest developments in the area of ports and logistics. On both conference days, prominent speakers from academia, industry, European and national public authorities, and port operators as PCT/COSCO, VPF, APPA, IAT, SEAbility, CONATECO, AIA, VPF, the European Commission, the European Technology Platform ALICE, the Hellenic Ministry of Transport, among others, will present and discuss, a variety of topics, through dedicated technical sessions and round-table discussions.

Between others, keynote speeches will be delivered by Captain Fu Cheng Qiu, CEO of PCT (COSCO), Vicente del Río, General Director of Fundación Valenciaport and Dr. Angelos Amditis, Research Director at ICCS/NTUA.

During the conference a number of key topics will be discussed, including :

  • Challenges and drivers that MED ports are currently facing in order to turn into intermodal and multimodal hubs.

  • ICT and business analysis tools to assist the port operators interface more seamlessly with various stakeholders of the supply chain.

  • Legislation and policy issues related to the logistics chain and how they may impact the strategic planning of ports.

  • Multimodality and Intermodality for Logistics.

  • Different levels of automation, to significantly improve the internal processes in a modern ports and logistic areas.

  • New technological and organisational trends for Ports and Logistics.

In parallel, posters and demonstrations of the latest technological developments will be exhibited.
