On Tuesday 18th and Wednesday 19th of December 2018, ΙΤS Hellas, the “Hellenic Association for the deployment of Intelligent Transport Systems” organised its 4th Conference entitled: “Intelligent Transport Systems in Greece: Latest developments”, in the premises of the Hellenic Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport.

The event was organised under the auspices of the Hellenic Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, the General Secretariat of Research and Technology (GSRT), the Hellenic Confederation of Commerce and Entrepreneurship (ESEE), the Hellenic Institute of Transportation Engineer (HITE) and the Hellenic Institute for Logistics Management -ΙLME and the Greek Cold Storage and Logistics Association.

The main aim of the event was to discuss the broad deployment of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) as a tool to achieve economic growth and prosperity and ensure the effectiveness, efficiency and safety of transport for the benefit of the respective industry, the end-users and the environment.

SEAbility participated in the two-days event discussions, by providing its insights for the maritime transport domain. Some of the most valuable outcomes can be encapsulated in need of:

  • Institutional and regulatory framework revision

  • Effective and efficient collaboration between private and public key players

  • Organising targeted information campaigns

  • Making available the required financial tools

  • Continuous training and qualified staff

  • Bridging the gap between the academia and enterprises

  • Exploiting the plurality of the research results
